Mrs. L.J.M.Mekala M. Kumarihami- SLEAS – 111
Principal – Thambuttegama Central College National School
Thambuththegama Central College National School stands as a prominent center of learning in the North Central Province, inspired by the visionary concept of free and equitable education introduced by C. W. W. Kannangara. Established under the Central College system, the school represents a significant national effort to extend quality education to rural communities while nurturing responsible and capable citizens.
Over the years, the College has developed into one of the largest and most respected schools in the Anuradhapura District, with a student population of nearly 3,150. A committed team of approximately 143 teachers, supported by around 20 non-academic staff members, works collaboratively to promote the holistic development of students.
The reputation of the College is further enhanced by its distinguished alumni, many of whom have achieved success in diverse professional fields across the country, bringing honor to their alma mater and contributing meaningfully to society.
I am privileged and honored to assume duties as the Principal of Thambuththegama Central College National School. I undertake this responsibility with a strong commitment to uphold the rich traditions and values of the school, while guiding it towards continued progress and excellence in all spheres of education.
Located in a predominantly agricultural region and guided by strong cultural and Buddhist values, the school is well positioned to nurture disciplined, socially responsible, and forward-thinking individuals. Our vision is to develop a generation capable of contributing to the nation’s agricultural and industrial advancement while embracing innovation, sustainability, and self-reliance.
To realize this vision, we aim to further strengthen both the formal and informal curriculum in line with the demands of the 21st century. Emphasis will be placed on enhancing subject knowledge, promoting interdisciplinary learning, and developing essential skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and adaptability
Our ultimate goal is to produce well-rounded individuals who are academically competent, morally grounded, and socially responsible, and who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to national development in a rapidly changing world.
